1) Thank you for bringing a nice urban bachata!!! I started taking their classes a little less than two months ago, when I was somewhere between a beginner and an intermediate to level 1, and I instantly fell in love with their studio. Due to it being too sensual on social dancefloors, I almost gave up on bachata, but their classes are on an entirely different level: they're purely fun, technical, and the choreographies are beautiful. They don't have weird moves that are overly sensual or looking "too much" where you could also accidentally touch someone the wrong way or go over boundaries. Also challenging level wise, but everyone is very supportive, and I wouldn't trade the whole experience for anything else, keeping going has been very rewarding. 2 ) I began taking their salsa on 2 lessons since I had just begun learning "on 2" ( with a New Yorker that swoop me up of my feet) which is more of an east coast style and more difficult to find in California. I discovered that it was more focused on the musicality, the beats, and really experiencing / feeling the music. Which, that said: our teachers got soul! Incredible musical taste, and their passion is contagious. Every week, I thoroughly enjoy dancing and learning with the classmates given they have such outstanding dynamism and are quite talented too. I have made so much progress in only a few months and can't wait to learn more, I was welcomed and encouraged to keep coming to level one even if it was a bit above my level and that I would pick it up, which I find to be true! See you tonight for salsa. Mini Frenchie'
It’s been my privilege to take private lessons with Joel for the past two years. Joel is highly trained and very passionate about dancing and teaching. He has been an amazing teacher for me and I look forward to our lessons and my continued progress. Early on in our working together, I found myself frustrated and about to give up Salsa dancing. I was learning steps and sequences in group classes but I felt like an imposter because I couldn’t seem to get the look and feel of a ”real” salsa dancer. Joel explained that my difficulty in connecting to the dance was because I didn’t understand salsa music itself. He began breaking down the music, the instruments, and the timing for me. He taught me what to listen for and what I was trying to connect to as a dancer. This knowledge has turned my frustration into enjoyment as I continue to improve my salsa dancing ability. Another thing that helps me greatly is Joel’s strength at breaking complex steps down into more basic movements. He gives me drills to practice and he teaches me the body mechanics necessary to execute movements properly. Although he is patient with my slower learning pace, he does expect me to practice and to put in time and effort. He challenges me to improve by continuing to push me out of my comfort zone. I try to keep in mind his sayings of “Have fun”, “Trust the process”, and “Be ok with being uncomfortable in the learning process”. While being uncomfortable is not where I long to be, especially as an introvert, it has been the source of my biggest breakthroughs as a dancer. Dance improvement is the focus of my private lessons but my breakthroughs have not been limited to dance. The process of learning showcase dances with Joel brought to light all sorts of things for me - issues of shame and embarrassment, performance anxiety, fears related to expressing myself and being seen, feelings of not being good enough…you name it, I felt it. Joel helped me become aware of my own critical self-talk and self-judgment and through dance I was able to overcome many limiting beliefs. Joel has proven to be not only a fine dance instructor but an encouraging coach and mentor as well. For these reasons and many more, I highly recommend Joel as a private teacher. My praise would be incomplete if I didn’t also mention his MotionOn2 group classes. In the group Salsa and Bachata classes, Joel and Lucia share their passion for dance as they nurture the growth of their students. The classes are fun and informative, the music is great, and it’s a supportive community of people to dance and learn with. I encourage everyone to give it a try.

You won't find a more welcoming and passionate group of people anywhere else!
I found Motion On 2 two years ago when I first started my dancing journey, and I have been dancing with Joel and Lucia ever since. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to try different instructors and dances as everyone can offer different things that all aim towards the same goal - improving my dancing - but I am really thankful I've found a dance company that offers me that in one neat package. Through their guidance and lead, I have been able to try different ballroom, rhythm, and latin dances, although my main focus now is Salsa and Bachata. In the beginning, I could not march in place without losing the beat. Their beginning classes started from the absolute basic, while still pushing me to do and learn more. This kept me engaged and excited, and I noticed I was able to follow more confidently in both Bachata and Salsa after only a couple weeks. I was so happy, I was telling everyone in my life about these classes! Now I'm two years in, but I feel like it's only been a couple months. Time has flown by. I'm still a beginner, but I feel I have the confidence now to add styling, more hip and shoulder movement, and generally let loose more. Joel and Lucia, while their approaches are different, have helped me notice growth I didn't see before, all thanks to the care they take in me as a student, both in class and in private lessons. Its easy to commit to my goals when there's people in my corner who are committed to me as well. And I couldn't have asked for better people in my corner than the Motion On 2 team! I can't recommend them, or these classes, enough!
Joel and Lucia are amazing teachers who make their classes fun and engaging. I always have way too many questions and they’re always happy to answer. I highly recommend taking their classes!
Lucia and Joel both really care about your growth and development as a dancer, pay attention to detail and keep a fun/safe learning environment. I take bachata and On2 salsa classes with them. I highly recommend this dance school if you are a complete beginner or if you have dance experience. MO2 is the best deal in town for sure! 🔥🪩🔥 …
